IN THE NEWS: 2025 Hessel Wooden Boat Show The annual Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Wooden Boat Show was held in Hessel, Michigan, on August 9, 2025. Higby’s 24-foot Chris Craft Model 3 (1928) named “Maiden Michigan IV” received 2 awards: (1) 2nd Place Runabout 21-24 ft; and (2) 1st Place in the Youth Judging Award (sponsored by Hagerty Insurance Co). In addition, Higby’s boat, “Maiden Michigan IV” was one of the featured boats on the annual boat show artwork and poster. OTHER RECOGNITION & NEWS Higby was the winner of the 2016 Port Huron Squadron Commander Award, Port Huron Blue Water Antique & Classic Boat Show. Additionally, he was the winner of "Best Contemporary Small Craft" for Maiden Michigan III at the 2015 Boats on the Boardwalk event, Water Wonderland Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society.
